108 Social and Emotional Learning and Trauma- Session 1
Emotions are very strong in children in all ages and its very important as educators we help those students work through and understand their emotions. The biggest takeaways i have so far is that 25% vs 75% of feelings towards school its very unfortunate to see how many students don’t like school. Self awareness is one of the greatest skills to teach early on as self accountability often goes hand in hand. Its very important for students to be conscious of their thoughts, feelings and actions. Being able to have a student connect to their emotions and question themselves how does my presence effect myself and those around? I really like the idea of the thought patterns, emotional patterns, and behavior patterns and teaching students the difference of identifying them. Relationship management is huge and only grows with importance as students get older and I think especially teaching them team building with new teammates and goals is very important for well-rounded perspectives. As well as teaching them the value of what they can learn by listening!
