108- Session #2
In Session 2, I learned about minor conflict at school and how intentional questioning can help guide students through conflict resolution. I also learned the importance of relationship building activities to help students connect, ranging from quick checkins to longer class meetings or journaling. Social awareness is key in understanding how students process situations, and we should use empathy while teaching skills like listening, cooperation, manners, and respecting personal space. I also learned the importance of setting clear expectations early and reviewing them often. Finally, self regulation helps students manage their behavior and emotions through planning, monitoring, and reflection using strategies like circle of control and positive refocusing. I can use this while subbing by setting clear expectations, using calm communication to help students work through minor conflicts, and reinforcing social skills like respect, listening, and cooperation. I will also support self regulation by staying patient and helping students refocus when needed.
