107 Classroom Management and Behavior Interventions- Session 3
Session 3 focuses on Tier 3 students. These are those typically 5% most at risk and identified for remediation. They often have individualized behavior plans. Students are screened through FBA to build a whole profile on the potential WHY behind behavior taking every possible reason into account. Students past history will be explored especially those with trauma, diagnosis etc. Its important to consider the WHY of students behavior besides reaction some include timely. tangitive, attention, escape, sensory. BIP’S are made with the intention of 1 tangible goal at a time with a 10 day intensive plan. Interventions are put in place often alongside with BIP’S to give the students the tools to success they need. Its crucial BIP students have a safe place to go to as they learn self regulation. Its very important to hold them accountable but not overwhelm them on a daily basis. Praise is crucial about 4 praises for every issue to encourage continued growth and effort. Interventions are based on individual children needs and can be adjusted as needed. Progress monitoring will be a priority through this time as well as full wrap communication with school. staff. parents and student. The goal is a 70% to 80% success rate. Everyone works together to prioritize the individual needs of a BIP student and access what is working. The ultimate goal is that re entry into the based learning place for them. Document everything and hold students accountable while giving them grace and trying to limit reactions.
