Instructions are one of the most crucial parts of teaching and classroom engagement so observing how other teachers have been able to implement instructions has been very helpful.

I am an ESL para so instructions are imperative for our children and we have very different ways of implementing instructions based on levels. Some of my takeaways I want to see implemented in my classroom is really continuing to have our students repeat our instructions back to us and possibly the use of name sticks. My biggest takeaway comes back to differentiated instructions. reading the room, and becoming okay with pausing reflecting and re instructing when needed. With reading the room I really want to get better at slightly redirecting our eager beavers to sit and listen to the instructions first and follow along as a group before they go off on their own.

The other biggest was the time management portion of instructions and how to plan out a lesson to prepare for potential breaks, redirection and flexibility that comes with teaching. With lesson planning time is such a looming factor and you have to be able to adapt quickly on lessons to suit your individuals class needs. I now understand how different classes can be in such different places of a unit a bit better.as well.
